Set one year after the fallout of the explosive finale from part one, the film reunites frenemies-turned-rivals Alexis (Taraji P. Henson), Carmen (Tika Sumpter), and Bria (Regina Hall), who are now at the top of their respective games — or so it seems. Each woman is dealing with her own private scandal: Alexis is being blackmailed over a past affair, Carmen is hiding financial ruin behind a luxury brand façade, and Bria is being investigated by the FBI after her ex-husband's disappearance.

When an anonymous blog — run by someone who clearly knows all their dirt — starts exposing secrets to the public, the women are forced into an uneasy alliance. As they dig for the truth and try to out-petty the puppet master behind the screen, old wounds are reopened and new alliances are formed — with plenty of sabotage, manipulation, and stilettos thrown along the way.
