THE OTHER GUYS 2 (2025): Crime Never Sleeps — Unfortunately, Neither Do They

They cracked the case once — mostly by accident. Lightning’s about to strike again.

The world’s most dysfunctional detectives are back — older, louder, and somehow even worse at their jobs. The Other Guys 2 (2025) delivers a wild, high-octane sequel packed with absurd action, ridiculous suspects, and the chaotic bromance that made the original a cult classic.

Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) has settled into suburban life, teaching police ethics at the academy. Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), meanwhile, is working solo in a property crime division he absolutely hates. But when a bizarre crypto-theft case crashes both their lives — involving a billionaire influencer, a stolen police pension fund, and a militia of ex-yoga instructors — the NYPD has no choice but to reassign the "other guys."

Reunited (begrudgingly), Gamble and Hoitz embark on a globe-trotting mission from Wall Street to Montenegro, accidentally causing mayhem at every turn. Their tools? Zero subtlety, some very questionable disguises, and an overuse of unnecessary explosions. Along the way, they reconnect with old allies, including Captain Gene (Michael Keaton) — still quoting TLC lyrics — and new additions like a cybercrimes expert who regrets every moment with them.

The film mixes sharp satire of modern finance with buddy-cop hilarity and explosive stunts that parody today’s blockbuster formula. As chaos builds, the two misfits must answer one question: can they stop fighting long enough to actually solve the case?
