They saved the zookeeper once. Now it’s his turn to save them all
Zookeeper 2 (2025) roars back with more laughs, more animals, and more heart than ever, bringing Kevin James’s lovable zookeeper Griffin Keyes back into the wild chaos of talking creatures, romantic blunders, and unexpected life lessons. A sequel over a decade in the making, this family comedy swings for big fun while sneaking in a few surprisingly sweet messages about self-worth, community, and finding your voice—even if you’re a giraffe.
It’s been years since Griffin last heard the zoo animals speak, but things are about to get noisy again. Now the head of the Franklin Park Zoo, Griffin is facing a new challenge: the zoo is in trouble financially, and a flashy new tech-savvy wildlife park is stealing all the attention. Enter Chloe (Vanessa Hudgens), an ambitious conservationist with bold ideas—and an even bolder plan to turn the zoo around by making it “more interactive.” Unfortunately, “interactive” means moving the animals to a livestreamed wildlife resort... far from home.
Just as Griffin starts to consider giving up the zoo for good, the animals break their silence again—this time with a plan. Led by Donald the wisecracking monkey and Joe the no-nonsense lion, the animals convince Griffin that they’ve got what it takes to save their home… but only if they all work together, man and beast. Cue a series of slapstick training montages, stealthy gorilla missions, and a surprisingly emotional llama speech that will have even the kids wiping a tear.
Directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray), Zookeeper 2 keeps the laughs coming with fast-paced comedy, charming creature banter, and ridiculous scenarios (think: a penguin heist, a parrot debate club, and a bear with a TikTok addiction). But beneath the silliness is a strong core about the value of loyalty, friendship, and staying true to who you are—even when the world wants something flashier.
The voice cast is top-tier, featuring returning favorites and new additions like Awkwafina as a sarcastic koala, Danny DeVito as a retired raccoon con artist, and Keegan-Michael Key as a hyperactive lemur with delusions of leadership. Kevin James grounds it all with heart and humor, reminding us why Griffin is the zookeeper everyone can root for.
Zookeeper 2 is fun, fuzzy, and full of feel-good chaos—a perfect family film that proves when animals and humans truly listen to each other, anything is paws-ible.
