Tinja (Siiri Solalinna) is a 12-year-old gymnast living under the suffocating rule of her image-obsessed mother—a popular lifestyle blogger who carefully curates every corner of their flawless suburban life. But beneath the pastel perfection, Tinja is unraveling. One night, she discovers a strange, wounded bird in the woods and secretly brings home its egg. The egg grows. And grows. Until it hatches into something not quite human… and not quite separate from Tinja herself.
What emerges is a grotesque, evolving creature that feeds off Tinja’s buried rage, pain, and longing. As the line between girl and monster blurs, Hatching becomes a wicked metaphor for puberty, pressure, and the parts of ourselves we’re taught to hide. Beautifully shot with icy precision, the film contrasts Instagram-filtered domestic life with visceral horror—where every cracked mirror reflects something crawling beneath the surface.
