Mercenaries don’t ask questions. Until someone betrays them
Hounds of War (2024) is a high-octane, globe-trotting action thriller that digs into the brutal lives of elite mercenaries—the kind of men governments deny exist, but desperately need when things go wrong. With its blend of hard-hitting combat, covert politics, and unrelenting vengeance, the film delivers a gritty look into a world where trust is fragile, and bullets are the final word.
The story follows Jack Gamble (played by Frank Grillo), a former Special Forces operative now leading a private military unit known as The Hounds—a feared squad of soldiers for hire. When a high-profile extraction mission in Eastern Europe goes sideways, one of his men is killed, and the team is betrayed by their mysterious client. Framed for an international assassination and hunted by both NATO and former allies, Jack goes rogue to uncover the truth—and to settle the score.
Teaming up with Nina Volkova (Rhona Mitra), a sharp-witted former spy with ties to Russian intelligence, and Marcus "Hellhound" Kane, a brutal demolitions expert with a code of his own, Jack must expose a covert network of arms dealers, corrupt generals, and corporate warmongers profiting off chaos. But time is running out, and every lead pulls them deeper into a shadow war where no one is clean.
Directed by William Kaufman, Hounds of War offers visceral action sequences, bone-crunching fight choreography, and a grim commentary on privatized violence. It's a film where loyalty is everything—until it gets you killed.
Because when you unleash the hounds… don’t expect them to show mercy.
