The Nun 3 (2025) — The Devil Wears a Habit, Again

“When the galaxy’s deadliest hunter seeks Earth’s perfect prey, an unstoppable force meets an unkillable monster.”

The bells toll again. Candles flicker in long-forgotten chapels. And from the shadows behind stained glass, evil watches with pale, unblinking eyes. “The Nun 3 (2025)” returns us to the darkest corners of The Conjuring Universe, where faith is fragile—and what haunts you wears a habit.

Set years after The Nun II, the story follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), now living in seclusion at a remote mountaintop monastery in Eastern Europe. She’s left the Church’s exorcism corps behind… but evil is not finished with her. When a series of grisly, inexplicable deaths afflict convents across Europe, all bearing the same demonic sigil, Irene is pulled back into the abyss—facing not only the demon Valak, but a truth she was never meant to uncover.

Director Michael Chaves returns with sharpened tools and darker intentions. “The Nun 3” isn’t just haunted—it’s possessed. Long corridors echo with whispered Latin. Statues bleed from the eyes. And cloisters once meant for sanctuary now pulse with malevolence. Gothic visuals reign supreme: storm-lit cloisters, cold stone walls, crucifixes that turn on their own. Every frame oozes dread.

Valak, no longer just a presence in the background, takes center stage as something far more ancient—and far more personal. We finally glimpse her origin, tangled in holy lies and forgotten bloodlines. Her shape-shifting torment escalates from jump scares to full-blown psychological unraveling, turning Irene’s mind into a battleground.

The Nun 3 - Will It Ever Happen?

Farmiga delivers her most powerful performance yet—worn, wounded, and filled with reluctant resolve. There’s no more innocence here; only grit, grief, and a flickering flame of faith refusing to go out. Her scenes with new ally Father Amaro (Diego Calva) add fresh tension and depth, as both struggle with guilt—and terrifying visions of what’s to come.

Sound design is terrifying in its restraint: creaking wood, ragged breath, unseen footsteps, Gregorian chants warped into low growls. Composer Abel Korzeniowski layers it all with strings that scream as loud as the dead.

By the film’s brutal climax—an exorcism staged beneath a shattered cathedral roof during a thunderstorm—“The Nun 3” firmly cements itself as the darkest chapter yet. It doesn’t just chill your spine—it digs into your soul and waits for the lights to go out.

The demon in the dark is back. And this time, she’s not knocking.
